In August 2009, we
got a call about a baby that needed help -- he wasn't very far from the
rescue. When we went over to check him out, I looked into the stall, and
right then I knew there was no leaving this baby behind. He looked
so small and alone, huddled in a corner. He had what appeared to be cataracts in both eyes. He had
diarrhea. He was thin, wormy, and had places where he was missing his coat.
His backend was weak, and he was wearing unhealthy baby fur.
I hugged him and started scratching his neck and started humming to
him. He swayed to the left, to the right, to the left, back and
forth to the scratches and humming. I love to listen to Ray
Charles; and this little boy, swaying back and forth to the humming,
reminded me of him -- the name Baby Ray came to me. So, meet Baby
Ray.

Please Help Us Build New Facilities for
Baby Ray, Baby Legacy, and Sunshine!
As winter has descended full force
upon us, we are asking for your kind assistance once again. Baby Ray
and Sunshine are desperately in need of an adequate size paddock and
run-in shelter that will allow them to be warm and comfortable during the
extremely cold weather we are currently experiencing.
Baby Legacy is doing well
and, soon, he will be ready to move out of the barn during the day.
Since Baby Ray and Baby Legacy have been placed together more frequently
to play in the small paddock behind the barn, we now feel that they are
ready to live together with Sunshine. Unfortunately the existing
paddock is far too small for the three horses and does not provide them
with much needed shelter. Also, once Haley has her baby, the barn
area simply will not be safe for Baby Ray, Sunshine, Legacy, and Haley and
her baby.

We are estimating that the
entire cost of building appropriate new facilities would be approximately $5,300 ($3,800 for the
shelter and $1,500 for the fencing).
Please follow this link for more details about the various fundraisers we
will be holding. And check our homepage for daily updates to our
"thermometer" that will reflect our progress!

As always, we thank you for
your continuing love and support for Beauty's Haven Farm & Equine Rescue!

... and thank you for your interest! We
are a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization incorporated in the State of
Florida. Please take time to browse through our website and
get to know us and the horses here.
Our purpose is to help as many equine friends as
possible when they are in need. We network with other rescue
organizations and individuals, and we work to educate others about
horse slaughter in an effort to make it illegal -- not just in the
United States but also in Canada, Mexico, and other
countries. To learn more about our mission, please

Horses
who arrive at our beautiful farm come from auctions, kill buyers,
brokers, and sometimes from owners that no longer want them or can
no longer care for them. Some come from caring owners who want
to ensure that their beloved horses find a good home.
Sometimes we
pay to get a horse out of its desperate situation and then
pay to transport the horse to our rescue. Many have been neglected and/or abused and,
once they are safely here, they are in need of vet, farrier,
and dental care, which is also costly.
Once the horses
are safe here, then there are the expenses that come with every horse: feed, wormers, etc.
And, with 34 horses in residence, we go through a ton of hay
about every four days.
We cannot do this
alone. We need assistance from caring individuals, groups, and
businesses. No amount is too small -- please give today to
help the horses by visiting our Donate
page. Donations are tax-deductible.
